Recipients of 2011-2012 Nembe Ibe USA Scholarship Awards

For the 2011-2012 academic year, 44 students benefited from Nembe Ibe USA
Scholarship award. Thirty eight (38) Secondary School awards were disbursed to
institutions in eleven communities in Nembe Ibe. Six (6) provisional Post-Secondary
Scholarship awards were offered to students from Nembe communities in Nigerian
territorial universities. Undergraduate Scholarship awards were in petro-chemical
engineering, information technology, agriculture, banking and management science.

Community-Based Projects
Education
The Nembe Ibe USA Scholarship Fund: Goal is to award both post-primary and
post-secondary tuition and board four to five year scholarships to deserving non-violent
students in the Nembe Ibe School System. One student per school will be awarded a
scholarship, based on moral and academic standards. The Principals of each school will be
required to nominate three outstanding graduating students with the appropriate supporting
documents. The nominated students at the post-secondary level will also write a 300-word
essay on why they should be awarded the scholarship and how the community will benefit
from their awards. All scholarships are tenable in Nigerian Universities at a cost of about
$600 per semester per student at the post secondary level. At the post primary level, cost
estimate per student per term will be about $200 (US dollars). Funds will be raised from
members of the Nembe Ibe USA, the companies operating in the Nembe Ibe area, NGOs,
and the State government.
