
Community-Based Projects
The Nembe Ibe USA Scholarship Award Program: Goal is to award both post-primary and
post-secondary tuition and board four to five year scholarships to deserving non-violent students in the
Nembe Ibe School System. One student per school will be awarded a scholarship, based on moral
and academic standards. The Principals of each school will be required to contact Nembe Ibe USA
Liaison officer for information on the scholarship award program and provide the appropriate
supporting documents. The nominated students at the post-secondary level will also write a 300-word
essay on why they should be awarded the scholarship and how the community will benefit from their
awards. All scholarships are tenable in Nigerian Universities at a cost of about 50,000 Naira per
school year student at the post secondary level. At the post primary level, cost estimate per student per
term will be about 10,000 Naira. Funds will be raised from members of the Nembe Ibe USA, the
companies operating in the Nembe Ibe area, NGOs, and the State government.
School Renovations/Equipments: Goal is to identify, cost, and supply through donations,
schools in the Nembe Ibe school system that need computers, internet, books, math and science
laboratory supplies and teaching aids in order to improve the educational standards in the area. We
will also identify, cost, and supply schools that need renovations. All works will be done by local labor
and volunteers. Donations are highly welcomed.
Health Care Initiative: Nembe Ibe USA's community-based health care initiative focus on these
action items:
- Provision of medical supplies such as blood pressure monitors, glucose meter kits for
diabetics and digital thermometers.
- Provision of educational materials and organizing health related activities. Nembe Ibe USA will
explore the provision of educational materials sourced from other non-profit or governmental
organizations. In addition, Nembe Ibe USA will address health issues that further the goal of
enhancing the health and happiness of the people of Nembe ibe. Health awareness activities
on the ground may include 3K races and health seminars.

2009-2010 Scholarship Award Disbursement Ceremony
Through outreach effort, Nembe Ibe USA Liaison officer Mr. Jonathan Duomoni launched an
extensive public relation campaign to educate local communities about Nembe Ibe USA
Scholarship Award Program. The Award ceremony kicked off with a media Press Release on talk
radio show ( Radio Bayelsa) and local newspapers in Bayelsa state (BANNER NEWS). Press
release was also distributed to national newspapers in Nigeria such as "THE PUNCH" and "THE
NATION".
Mr. Jonathan Duomoni capped off the award ceremony with a visit to each secondary school in
the Nembe Ibe community. Recipients parents/guardians, and their principals were encouraged
to participate in the All Smiles, Lucky Winners award ceremony.
